“I will not say I failed 1000 times; I will say I discovered there are 1000 ways that can cause failure.” -Thomas Edison
In my devotional this morning, it was talking about how we can’t always make decisions and invest everything we have into avoiding hardship or suffering because God uses suffering to grow us in ways that he couldn’t without us enduring through suffering. This hit me hard because I’m convicted of having a lack of faith in this. For the past month or so, I’ve been giving my all into searching for the “right” answers and the “right” path to take. I’ve been desperately seeking God’s will and plan for me so that I won’t end up making any mistakes, trying to avoid hardship or pain by being so careful with my decisions. I’m learning that it’s not about that. Sometimes the path God has for us involves a little bit of imperfection to grow us here and there. I have to trust that God will bring me through any suffering or hardship I go through victorious. I can’t make choices based on how hard or how painful situations could end up; I have to pick the path that God is calling me to, without the fear of failure or pain.
“He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.” -Psalm 103:4
It’s important that we are praying boldly in our weaknesses and that we don’t allow our failure or fear of failure to control us. We are NOT slaves to sin, and God is powerful enough to break strongholds in our lives, strongholds to any failure or sin. Don’t be afraid to take the path God has for you; He will bring you through it in victory. God will use the mistakes, and if you let Him, he will use any suffering along the way. Increase your faith!
